The Elgin Silver Oaks in Kalimpong was built in 1930 and once belonged to the eminent architect Frederick Desraj.  The hotel recalls the days of the British Raj, with hot water bottles in your bed at night. 

The teak floorboards and watercolours and lithographs reflect the opulence of the old times. All the bedrooms (below left) are bright and sunny with a magnificent view of the mountains and landscaped gardens.

Service is personalised and available round the clock. High tea with cakes and biscuits is served in the tea lounge or in the garden. Replete with candlelit dinners and tunes from the piano.
